About Me
My name is Venya Luthra, a 3rd-year Experimental Animation student at OCAD University with a passion for stop-motion animation, especially claymation and natural materials. My cross-disciplinary approach fuels my love for experimenting with various modes of expression, and I’m always eager to improve my 3D stop-motion and animation practice. My experience in writing, animating, and editing includes storyboarding, character design, and working with Dragonframe, Adobe Audition, and After Effects.
As a woman of Thai and Indian descent, I am an advocate for representation in the media, particularly amplifying voices that have been overlooked and ignored in the conversation. This passion stems from my personal experiences of looking for representation in the media I consume. I resonate with the feeling of being represented and hope to continue this in my career, diversifying the animation on screen and behind it.
Currently my practice focuses on personal narratives, hence I aim to develop projects with strong storytelling, diverse characters, and immersive narratives. In my career, I hope to build my leadership skills and direct my own animated film not only fostering an inclusive and creative environment but highlighting overshadowed stories.
